AWARDS PROGRAM

The Manitoba Cooperative Association (MCA) is pleased to recognize cooperative achievement annually at the Cooperative Awards Banquet during Co-op Week.

On October 17, 2018 we will be honouring 4 Cooperative Awards Recepients:

  • Dale Ward, nominated by Credit Union Central of Manitoba, will be honoured with the Distinguished Co-operator Award.  Dale spent his career working with Manitoba Credit Unions and helping shape the credit union system in to the strong and resilient system that it is today.  Additionally, Dale spent time on the Board of the Manitoba Cooperative Association and sat on many national and international committees for the co-op and credit union system.  Currently, Dale continues as a Board member of the Deposit Guarantee Corporation of Manitoba.
  • Menno Plett, nominated by Clearview Consumers Co-op, will be honoured with the Cooperative Merit Award.  Menno has spent over 40 years as a member, director, and President of Clearview Consumers Co-op.  Over that time, and under his leadership, Clearview Co-op has seen exponential growth and has grown into one of the strongest co-ops in Manitoba.
  • The Wasagaming Foundation, operating Camp Wannakumbac, will be honoured with the Cooperative Youth Leadership Award.  Welcoming young people to the shores of Clear Lake since 1948, Camp Wannakumbac has since inception instilled cooperative values in the minds of its participants.  Supported by the Manitoba cooperative community, Camp Wannkumbac has touched the lives of thousands of Manitoba youth and who have shaped our province’s cooperative identity.
  • Co-op Velo-Cite will be honoured with the Cooperative Youth Leadership Award.  Founded in 2016, La Coop Vélo-Cité started as a special project initiated in 2011-12 by the Conseil jeunesse provincial, the francophone youth council representing French-speaking youth from 14 to 25 years.  While members use the services of the co-op to build, repair and learn about bicycles, they also learn about cooperative values and principles.

Please join us at our Co-op Awards Banquet at the Norwood Hotel in Winnipeg on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 to honour the deserving recepients.  Tickets can be purchased for $75/person or a reserved table of 8 for $550 - please contact the MCA office for more details and to order tickets.
